Why boudoir?

A photo shoot with Arta Natura is designed to celebrate you, your body, and your natural beauty.

What’s the experience like?

We take a simple, classical approach to creating our portrait sessions that differs from a more traditional boudoir experience.

  • First and foremost, a boudoir photo shoot is about YOU. The experience is collaborative, but you have control over all decisions.

  • We like to shoot indoors in simple, uncomplicated spaces, and we love to use natural outdoor locations when possible.

  • We use minimal studio equipment and artificial lights.

  • We like to create images that have an artistic portrait feel.

Do I have to be naked?

Not at all! The most important thing is that you’re comfortable. Before your session, we’ll communicate about the level of nudity you prefer, if any. You don’t have to be naked to participate in a boudoir, intimate portrait, or fine art shoot. But the amount of clothing you wear (or don’t wear) will change the tone of your photographs. Some of the differences to keep in mind:

  • Certain types of clothing can create a more provocative or erotic look than full nudity does.

  • Clothing can contextualize photos and people, adding a sense of time, place, fashion, and style.

  • Clothing can sometimes create a glamour or fashion look to a photo session.

Reasons to consider nudity: Clothing can be an extra layer in between the viewer and the model, and nude portraits can be a very direct and emotional look at someone’s personal real self. Plus, by avoiding clothing with particular styles and fashions, we create images that have a timeless, classical vibe. And, most importantly: There’s nothing shameful about nudity!

Reasons to consider fashion: Clothing and lingerie choices can impart a particular feeling to your photos. If you’re planning to give your art to a significant other, wearing their favorite items can be a great touch!

How many people will be present?

Dustin, a male photographer, will direct and take photos. His wife Laura will often be on-site for production assistance. (Find out more about both of us below.)

Can I bring a friend with me?

Friends and partners are always welcome to come to your session! We only ask that they be positive, upbeat, and supportive!

Only if you want to. We’ll publish photos to our portfolio if you explicitly allow it. If you’d rather keep them to yourself, we won’t share them with anyone else.

They’re YOUR photos - you decide what to do with them.

Will my pictures end up on the internet?

Yes all around!

  • Boudoir and art-style nudes aren’t just for women. All bodies are beautiful. All gender identities - including men - are welcome!

  • Couples sessions are becoming much more common. We’re happy to help you create a portrait or boudoir-style shoot for you and your partner.

  • It seems strange to need to say it, because it should be the default for everyone: We’re proud to work with all, LGBTQ+ inclusive.

Do you shoot men? What about couples? Are you LGBTQ+ friendly?
